Westborough, Mass.-headquartered American Superconductor Corp. (AMSC), an energy technology company, has received a new order for its dynamic volt ampere reactive (D-VAR) voltage control system. The buyer, a 60 MW wind farm in Wyoming that will use Suzlon wind energy systems, is the 32nd wind energy project worldwide to have purchased the D-VAR system, AMSC says.
The D-VAR system, which provides voltage regulation and power factor correction, is scheduled to be installed in early 2008. The wind farm is expected to be operational within the next 12 months.
AMSC adds that its products are now serving more than 5.7 GW of wind power worldwide, more than triple the company's 1.8 GW total in September 2006.
