American Wind Action (AWA) says that it is launching a major issue advocacy campaign in Ohio ahead of the state legislative session at which lawmakers are expected to consider the state’s renewable energy standards (RES).
AWA, an independent and bipartisan group, has planned a digital video ad buy that will run through early November to educate Ohioans on the many social, environmental and economic benefits of wind energy. The five-figure advertising campaign will begin airing immediately and will be seen across the Cleveland and Toledo markets, as wind energy is a significant presence in Ohio.
Sam Enfield and Jeff Clark, two members of AWA’s bipartisan board of directors, issued a joint statement regarding the launch of AWA’s issue advocacy effort in Ohio: “Wind is an energy source that Ohio can depend on to provide consistent, long-term power at stable and reasonable cost, unlike power from fuel-based power from sources whose prices fluctuate significantly over time.
“The further progress of wind energy in Ohio will create new jobs and provide long-term environmental benefits. We are pleased to bring this message to Ohio ahead of the legislative session, when lawmakers are expected to consider Ohio’s renewable energy standards. It is important that Ohio lawmakers fully understand the value of wind energy to their constituents,” adds Enfield and Clark.
In addition to its primary focus on public education and social welfare, AWA plans to increase the advocacy capacity and political strength of wind energy advocates in 2016 and beyond.
