Beverly, Mass.-headquartered Altova, a developer of application and data management software, has purchased enough renewable energy credits (RECs) from Boulder, Colo.-headquartered Renewable Choice Energy to offset all the carbon emissions produced in powering Altova's U.S. headquarters.
According to the company, with its purchase of 144,000 kWh worth of RECs, Altova has prevented over 200,000 pounds of carbon dioxide pollution. In addition, the company's European headquarters, Altova GmbH, now run only on renewable energy generated from wind, solar and hydro power produced by Wienstrom, a Vienna, Austria-based supplier.
