Algonquin Power Co., (APCo) a subsidiary of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., has acquired a 60% interest in two wind farms belonging to Gamesa.

APCo acquired a majority interest in the 200 MW Minonk wind project, located in Illinois, and the 150 MW Senate wind Project, located in Texas. APCo has also increased its interest in the Pennsylvania-based 50 MW Sandy Ridge wind project to 60% from 58.75%.

Both wind farms feature Gamesa's G9X 2 MW wind turbines and are contracted with long-term power contracts from J.P. Morgan Energy Ventures Corp.

Gamesa will provide operations, warranty and maintenance services for the wind turbines and balance of plant facilities for both Minonk and Senate, pursuant to 20-year agreements, notes APCo.
