Acciona has started to supply turbines for Phase I of a 300 MW wind power complex in Texas. In addition, project manager Capital Dynamics and partner Prudential Capital Group have announced the financial closing of the wind farm's first phase.
Located on over 18,000 acres in Baylor and Knox counties, the Green Pastures wind complex will be built in two 150 MW phases and feature a total of 100 AW 116/3000 turbines. The first phase, comprising 50 turbines, is expected to be online in March 2015.
Acciona says the 3 MW turbines are equipped with 116-meter-diameter rotors and will be mounted on 92-meter-high steel towers. The company will also provide operations and maintenance services for 10 years.
Notably, Green Pastures is Capital Dynamics' first wind project in the U.S. and fourth overall, following three wind projects in the U.K.
‘Green Pastures is the latest example of our commitment to clean energy in the U.K., Australia and North America,’ says John Breckenridge, managing director at Capital Dynamics. ‘We are pleased to be able to partner with a leading energy investor in Prudential and a top-rated wind turbine supplier in Acciona.’
