Acciona Energy's Lameque wind project, located in the Acadian Peninsula of New Brunswick, is now commercially operational. The 45 MW wind farm, initiated by La Cooperative d'Energie Renouvelable de Lameque, began construction late last summer.
New Brunswick Power is the designated off-taker of the power via a long-term power purchase agreement. The project has received support from Canada's ecoENERGY for Renewable Power program, with an investment of up to C$13.79 million over 10 years.
The project's 30 1.5 MW Acciona wind turbines are spread over approximately 3,100 acres. Sixty-eight landowners have lease agreements and are participating in the development. The power generated at the project will be distributed to the region through the New Brunswick Power transmission grid.
A formal dedication event at the site is scheduled for this summer.
