AAR Corp., a Wood Dale, Ill.-headquartered provider of products and value-added services to the aerospace and defense industry, has purchased enough renewable energy certificates (REC) to offset 100% of its purchased electricity used across their North American operations through 2010.
According to the company, this 27.5 million kWh purchase is the largest to date by an aviation services company among partners in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Partnership.
AAR adds that in conjunction with the REC purchase, it has adopted several other environmentally friendly practices, including using high-efficiency fluorescent lights, reducing energy consumption, conserving water, recycling scrap material and encouraging its employees to post on Green Voices, the company's internal green blog.
