Offshore wind installation and services provider A2SEA says it has signed a contract to install turbines for DONG Energy at what will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm, Hornsea Project One.
According to A2SEA, Hornsea Project One will be located 120 kilometers off the Yorkshire Coast and cover approximately 407 square kilometers, and the wind farm will boast a total capacity of 1.2 GW.
A2SEA says its purpose-built offshore installation vessel SEA INSTALLER will be deployed to install a part of the 174 Siemens 7 MW turbines.
The company asserts that the offshore wind farm, once fully commissioned, will provide energy for well over 1 million homes in the U.K.
