The 162 MW Glacier Hills Wind Park is now commercially operational, utility We Energies has announced.
The Glacier Hills Wind Park consists of 90 1.8 MW Vestas turbines spread across 17,000 acres of farmland in Columbia County, Wis. According to We Energies, the project costs will come in well below the target of $363.7 million set by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
Led by Wisconsin contractors Boldt Construction, Edgerton Contactors and Michels Corp., crews erected turbine towers that were manufactured in Manitowoc by Broadwind Inc. In the weeks ahead, We Energies will work closely with the landowners in the area to ensure that proper restoration from construction activity is completed, the utility notes.
