Another group of organizations has expressed support for an extension of the wind energy production tax credit (PTC): This week, 118 business, sportsmen's and conservation groups wrote a letter urging Congress to extend the PTC.
‘Extending clean energy incentives, like the production tax credit and investment tax credit (ITC) for the wind industry; up-front avoidance of construction in sensitive, high-conflict areas; and investing in the mitigation of potential impacts from development to fish and wildlife habitat are all critical,’ they wrote. ‘These policies will help us limit the dangerous carbon pollution that is fueling climate change, lessen our dependence on dangerous sources of oil, and protect our nation's communities and conservation legacy.
‘Investing in energy efficiency and responsibly sited renewable energy creates jobs, saves consumers money, protects our health, and safeguards wildlife habitats and the outdoor economy those habitats support,’ they continued. ‘We urge you to support these essential investments in America and work to see they are enacted as soon as possible.
