Kevin Alewine, director of renewable energy services for Dallas-based Shermco Industries, has been appointed to the Operations, Performance and Reliability Task Force for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Wind Vision Project.

According to Shermco, the DOE Wind Program is working in close cooperation with the wind industry to revisit the findings of the 2008 DOE 20% Wind Energy by 2030 report and to develop a renewed vision for U.S. wind power research, development and deployment. The task force will be involved in examining industry progress and how recent developments and trends have impacted the 2008 conclusions. It will also facilitate discussion of the costs and benefits to the nation arising from more wind power and will work to develop a roadmap addressing the challenges to achieving high levels of wind within a sustainable national energy mix.

"I am honored to be appointed to this task force and look forward to representing the industry to the best of my abilities," comments Alewine.
