Norway-based Sway Turbine has developed a 10 MW offshore wind turbine, named the ST10.
For the first time, the company has revealed information about the wind turbine's design, including details about its direct-drive permanent-magnet generator, which has an ironless stator core.
According to Sway Turbine, which has been developing the machine for the last seven years, the turbine is designed to be lightweight and to lower some of the costs associated with offshore wind power.
Sway Turbine CEO Ingelise Arntsen says the company is now in the process of identifying the best industrial partner to bring this product to the market.
