Iberdrola Renewables Reports Layoffs At U.S. Operations

Iberdrola Renewables has laid off approximately 50 of its U.S. employees. About half of those laid off work in the company's Portland, Ore., office.

Iberdrola made the decision based on ‘low energy prices, a poor economy and regulatory uncertainty,’ company spokesperson Jan Johnson told NAW.

‘Energy has historically been a cyclical business, and we're in a down cycle now,’ she said. ‘As a result, we had to make the difficult decision to lay off about 50 employees out of our nationwide staff of more than 900.’

‘Development will be selective as we right-size our pipeline to focus on our best opportunities,’ Johnson added, noting that Iberdrola will focus on the areas of grid integration, wildlife and safety.
