WindMade Launches Public Consultation On Product Standard

0

WindMade, which was launched in 2011 as a label to designate companies powered by wind energy, is seeking comments for technical requirements for companies and products made using other forms of renewable energy.

The proposed standard requires participating companies to source a minimum of 75% of the electricity used for manufacturing a product (or producing a service) from wind power and other renewable energy sources.

The label will cover the entire power consumption for all product components – from the extraction of the raw materials to the product leaving the factory.

Following the public consultation, which ends June 2, the final WindMade standard for products and services is expected to be released before the summer.
