A Northwind 100 kW wind turbine was erected this week at Phoenix Press in New Haven, Conn. The wind turbine is being installed by Wilton, Conn.-based Alteris Renewables.
Installation of the turbine, which is being supported with a grant from the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF), began in January. The 150-foot turbine is expected to provide Phoenix Press with about one-third of its annual energy needs, saving the company around $35,000 a year in utility costs.
About a year ago, brothers Brian and Kevin Driscoll, co-owners of Phoenix Press, announced that a wind turbine would be erected at the business.
‘We are so thrilled to be able to be a part of this change in not only our company's history, but to leave our indelible mark on New Haven's skyline and help change the environment for the positive at the same time,’ says Brian Driscoll, president of Phoenix Press.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Feb. 25.
