Environmental and industrial measurement services provider Vaisala has signed a contract to divest its wind profiler business to Rottenburg, Germany-based Scintec, which develops, manufactures and markets atmospheric sensors using optical, radio wave and acoustic techniques.
Vaisala says the divestment is expected to contribute to an increased focus on product development and customer service, and will allow it to better focus on the core product lines in the weather business area.
Vaisala will continue to offer its LAP wind profilers as components in its integrated weather and decision support system offering, but the company will no longer have the product in its own portfolio.
