David Sandalow, acting under secretary of energy and assistant secretary for policy and international affairs, will tour ACCIONA Windpower's wind turbine generator assembly plant in West Branch, Iowa.
During the July 25 visit, Sandalow is expected to highlight the need to extend clean energy manufacturing tax credits and support the continued growth of clean energy industries in Iowa and the U.S., the Department of Energy notes.
"Iowa is one of our nation's top wind energy producers,’ says Sandalow. ‘It is critical that Congress extend the production tax credit for wind energy to protect jobs in Iowa and around the country.’
From its West Branch assembly plant, ACCIONA sources more than 80% of components for its 1.5 MW and 3 MW wind turbines from domestic suppliers.
