Next week, the U.S. House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources will debate several pieces of legislation related to offshore wind.
According to a report from Reuters, next Tuesday’s hearing will cover three separate, bipartisan bills. One would mandate that the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) create an offshore wind leasing plan; one would allow the DOI to “manage the federal submerged lands” of U.S. territories; and one would develop federal funding for offshore wind education, supporting future jobs.
“We are committed to working with the Trump administration in pursuing an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy strategy, which includes a robust offshore renewable component,” the committee reportedly said.
Those scheduled to testify include stakeholders from Norway-based Equinor (formerly Statoil), the DOI’s Office of Renewable Energy Programs and the Washington, D.C.-based National Ocean Industries Association.
