Tokyo Gas has invested in Windplus, operator of the floating offshore wind farm WindFloat Atlantic in Portugal, becoming joint shareholder with Ocean Winds.
The project, in commercial operation, is equipped with 10 MW-class turbines. It uses Principle Power’s floating foundation system.
“Ocean Winds is a pioneer in floating offshore wind power and is expanding offshore wind power globally,” says Tokyo Gas’ Kentaro Kimoto.
“We are very pleased to further strengthen our cooperative relationship with Ocean Winds through our participation in WindFloat Atlantic. Going forward, we will utilize the knowledge and experience gained from this project to work towards the large-scale commercialization of floating offshore wind power in Japan.”
