Strategic Marine Delivers CTVs To Mainprize Offshore

Strategic Marine has completed delivery of two crew transfer vessels (CTVs) to Mainprize Offshore as part of the U.K.-based owner and operator’s ongoing fleet expansion.

Scheduled to be operational next month, both vessels are expected to carry out crew transfers in Europe.

Walker Marine Design (WMD) and Mainprize Offshore jointly designed the CTVs. The company says the hull form has been tank-tested using computational fluid dynamics and optimized by WMD architects. It adds that the drivetrain alone was the result of a nine-company worldwide partnership with WMD, Mainprize Offshore, Caterpillar and CJR, Strategic Marine and Trakindo, ZF, Servogear and Lyngaa.

The vessels are powered by twin Caterpillar C32B engines driving Servogear controllable pitch propellers in front of CJR flow-aligned rudders. They have a maximum speed of 30 knots and service speed of up to 27 knots.

“We are honored to be chosen to build these vessels for a top tier U.K. CTV operator such as Mainprize Offshore,” says Chan Eng Yew, Strategic Marine CEO.

“I am proud that Strategic Marine has been able to use its proven production capabilities to transform this excellent design into a vessel that is well-catered to meet the industry’s needs.”
