SPIE to Handle Cable Testing for Vattenfall Offshore Wind Farms

SPIE Global Services Energy’s Correll entity has been awarded two multi-year framework agreements by Vattenfall to carry out cable testing and fault finding for its offshore wind farms in Europe, excluding Germany.

As the first entity to join the newly created wind power business unit, the company says Correll brings to SPIE Global Services Energy its expertise in electrical engineering for the offshore wind industry.

The framework agreements cover existing and potential Vattenfall offshore wind farms in Europe, excluding Germany, for an initial five-year period, related to high-voltage submarine cable systems. This includes pinpointing positions of electrical cable faults in a cable by means of suitable cable testing, cable condition monitoring and specific cable testing before re-energization.

One agreement is set to cover offshore wind farms in the U.K., and the second one will cover the remaining European countries.

“The award of these frame agreements highlights our strategic shift towards business diversification to the maintenance activities,” says SPIE’s Gianluca Pettracia. “This move underscores our commitment to optimizing operational efficiency and creating long-term value for our customers and stakeholders.”
