The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) plans to release a request for proposals (RFP) on Aug. 28 for renewable energy for power purchase agreements (PPA) and/or ownership options.
The August RFP will solicit offers for PPAs and ownership options for conventional and emerging renewables eligible under California's renewable portfolio standard (RPS). These technologies include wind, geothermal, small hydroelectric, landfill gas, biomass, biodiesel, biogas injected into natural gas pipeline, ocean thermal, ocean wave, tidal current, PV and solar thermal.
SMUD will also accept letters of interest for tradable renewable energy credits (TRECs) in anticipation of a decision by the California Public Utilities Commission to accept TRECs for RPS compliance.
Deadline: late October.
