Siemens will supply five SWT-3.0-113 MW turbines for a community wind project located in Northern Germany.
According to Siemens, project developer Buergerwindpark Loewenstedt GmbH & Co. KG selected the 3 MW direct-drive machines because the company provided the only turbine technology that complied with a local air traffic controller's stringent radio shielding requirements.
The turbines offer low electromagnetic emissions from the permanent magnet generator and the electrical systems.
Siemens submitted verifying proof of the turbines' electromagnetic compatibility by measurement in the relevant frequency ranges. Therefore, the project was granted a permit. All five Siemens wind turbines will be erected within a radius of two kilometers around the receiver station.
