Siemens has signed a long-term agreement with Minnesota Power to provide service and maintenance for 149 D3 platform wind turbines installed at the utility's Bison Wind Energy Center, located near New Salem, N.D.
Per the agreement, Siemens will provide service and maintenance for 10 years for 85 SWT-3.0-101 direct-drive turbines at Bison Phase 1B, Bison 2 and Bison 3. The contract also includes 64 SWT-3.2-113 units at Bison 4. The direct-drive turbines operating at Bison 4 feature Siemens' new 3 MW D3 platform wind turbines with a 113 meter rotor and 92.5-meter hub height.
The project delivers power via a 465-mile direct-current transmission line that connects the Square Butte Substation, located in Center, N.D., to Minnesota Power's Arrowhead substation, near Duluth, Minn.
