Siemens Gamesa has inked wind turbine orders for five different customers in Spain.
The contracts, totaling 289 MW, were signed from April to June of this year. In total, the company will install 92 turbines at 10 wind farms being developed in Guadalajara, Lugo, Malaga, Zaragoza, Huesca, La Coruña and Cadiz.
The customers are Viesgo, Grupo Jorge, Comunidad General de Riegos del Alto Aragón and two undisclosed energy companies. All of the projects fall under the scope of the renewable capacity allocated in recent auctions.
Delivery of the new turbines will begin in October of this year, depending on each project. Siemens Gamesa will also operate and maintain all of the facilities.
Most of the orders call for the SG 3.4-132 (58 units) and the SG 2.6-114 (28 units). The six remaining turbines will be the SG 2.1-114.
Siemens Gamesa claims it is the No. 1 wind OEM in Spain, where it has installed more than 12,000 turbines, comprising nearly 55% of the country’s total installed base. In addition, the company services over 7,500 MW, which is roughly one-third of Spain’s installed fleet.
