Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., says that energy legislation could have a better chance of passing during a lame-duck session of Congress, and that the legislation still includes a national renewable electricity standard (RES), The Hill reports.
The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) has issued the following statement in response:
‘Today's statement by Sen. Reid that he sees more bipartisan support for a renewable electricity standard is a sure sign energy legislation is still very much in play,’ says Denise Bode, CEO of AWEA. ‘A recent op-ed by Sen. Mark Udall and letter signed by labor, leading utilities, renewable energy trade associations and most of the environmental community shows momentum is building throughout the nation. There is every reason the senate can pass energy legislation with an RES.’
