Puget Sound Energy Issues RFP

0

Bellevue, Wash.-based Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) designed to help meet the energy needs of its growing service area.

The RFP for new power supplies asks outside power producers, marketers and power-plant developers to help PSE procure approximately 1,000 MW of new electric-resource capacity by 2016.

While PSE expects energy efficiency, renewable power and gas-fired generation to be its dominant sources of new power supply in the coming years, the RFP is open to any viable power-supply offering or technology that can be in operation by 2016.

PSE will consider various contract arrangements, such as investment in existing power plants, ownership of new plants or long-term power purchases.

Outside energy companies must submit proposals by the first week of March. The utility plans to review the power-supply proposals and develop a final short list of candidate projects by July, and then commence contract negotiations with the selected finalists.

Deadline: March 2.
