Progress Energy Florida has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for cost-effective renewable energy projects that offset the need for new power plants.
Projects must utilize one or more of the following energy sources: wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, ocean energy, hydropower, waste heat from a commercial or industrial manufacturing process, or hydrogen produced from sources other than fossil fuels.
Preference will be granted to projects larger than 1 MW. Projects must be reliable, located in Florida and able to sell their electrical output to Progress Energy Florida at a cost equal to or below the cost to build new generation.
Projects must be fully operational by June 1, 2018. More information on the RFP is available here.
