Parkwind has inaugurated its 250 MW Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm with a ceremony in Berlin, attended by representatives from the Belgian and German governments.
Parkwind and its partners recently completed installation of the 27 turbines at Arcadis Ost 1 in the German Baltic Sea, achieving a world first with the completion of an offshore wind farm installation without the use of jack-up vessels, says the company. By using self-propelled floating cranes and installation vessels, the ships were able to maintain their floating position without the use of tugs or anchors.
A panel discussion between representatives from Parkwind and partners Heerema, Vestas, DEME and 50 Hertz provided a platform for industry leaders to share their perspectives on the challenges, achievements and opportunities in the sector.
The event concluded with a ceremonial push-the-button moment and walking dinner.
