Brooklyn, N.Y.-based developer OwnEnergy has joined WindMade, a global consumer label for companies that use wind energy and other renewables. The label requires participating companies to obtain at least 25% of their electricity from wind power. OwnEnergy is the first wind developer to join the WindMade initiative.
OwnEnergy co-develops community-scale wind projects with civic stakeholders. In return, the company's local partners receive an ownership stake in the resulting wind farm.
