The Ontario Power Authority's (OPA) deputy minister, Fareed Amin, has provided an update on the province's two-year feed-in-tariff review.
Amin says he worked closely with the Ministry of Energy (MOE) and the OPA to conduct the review and that recommendations are being developed to protect the interests of ratepayers and encourage investments in new clean energy in Ontario.
According to Amin, once these recommendations are accepted, they will be implemented as soon as possible.
Between Oct. 31 and Dec. 14 of last year, nearly 2,900 online surveys were completed, over 150 written submissions were received and the province met with more than 80 stakeholders.
Amin says he is working with the OPA and MOE staff to analyze the submissions and the comments they heard at the meetings, and he expects to submit his recommendations to the minister of energy in the near future.
