Oklahoma City-based OGE Energy Corp.'s electric utility subsidiary, OG&E, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) from wind power developers for the construction of up to 300 MW of new capacity. OG&E intends to add the new capacity to its power-generation portfolio by late 2010.
The company is issuing this RFP for delivery of energy from wind energy resources that will be operational no later than Dec 31, 2010, with preference given to proposals that will be operational no later than June 1, 2010. OG&E seeks power from either an individual facility or in the aggregate from facilities that have a minimum a nameplate capacity of 50 MW.
As previously announced, OG&E is building a high-voltage transmission line from Woodward to Oklahoma City in order to bring future supplies of wind power to the population centers of Oklahoma and across the region.
