The Nebraska Public Power District has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 80 MW wind projects that would be constructed by the end of 2010.
The RFP is similar to the one released in July 2007, except that specific locations have been designated – one near Broken Bow and another near Petersburg – due to low transmission interconnection costs.
NPPD's RFP process has a goal of receiving proposals that will have the lowest cost through the PPA over a 20-year period and that meet all technical specifications outlined.
It is expected that a decision on a successful PPA will be announced in fall 2009 and that the facilities would be operational before Dec. 1, 2010.
Deadline: April 15.
