Supported by Nordic Innovation, an international consortium has facilitated development of the Nordic Ports Project in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.
The project aims to make these countries’ ports ready for the expanding industry, with goals that include building new value chains across developers, manufacturers and subcontractors.
“This collaboration has been vital for the ports involved in identifying what their challenges are and what is needed to solve them,” says Norwegian Offshore Wind’s Astrid Green.
As part of the project, partners visited different ports in the countries, sharing infrastructure solutions that may help shape future development, says the consortium.
During the project period, Norwegian Offshore Wind also commissioned a report on the industry potential of Norwegian assembly sites and bases. Partners were Invest in Norway and Eksfin, with Menon Economics creating the report.
Energy Cluster Denmark represented the Danish ports in the project and the Swedish sites were represented by RISE Institute Sweden.
Norwegian Offshore Wind established a working group for ports and infrastructure in 2022, led by Turid Storhaug from Windport in Mandal.
