Seventus LLC, a new renewable energy development and finance firm backed by Suzlon, has acquired a major wind development in Montana from Gaelectric LLC.

Totaling 235 MW, the Jawbone Wind Projects are located in Wheatland County on approximately 31,000 acres of land. The first Jawbone project, sized at 80 MW with 38 Suzlon S111 wind turbines, is expected to begin construction next year.

Seventus, which is majority-owned by India-based Suzlon Energy Ltd., focuses on greenfield and repowered projects throughout the U.S. Based out of Chicago, the firm was founded by two former Goldwind executives: Tim Rosenzweig, previously CEO of Goldwind USA and co-founder and chief financial officer of FirstWind, and Andy Evans, previously director of commercial transactions for Goldwind USA.

“We are happy to add the Jawbone projects to the growing Seventus development pipeline,” comments Rosenzweig, who serves as CEO of Seventus. “These projects will help us to achieve our goal of providing low-cost renewable energy to our partners.”
