New York City-based Silverpeak, an alternative investment management firm focused on real estate, energy and credit, has launched a new renewable energy platform.
According to the firm, Silverpeak Renewables Investment Partners will provide institutional investors an opportunity to invest in power projects employing established renewable energy technologies, including wind, solar and energy storage. It will be run by Santosh Raikar, who joins Silverpeak as the strategy’s managing partner, reporting to Kaushik Amin, who leads the firm’s energy investment platform.
Raikar joins Silverpeak from State Street Bank and Trust Co., where he was a managing director responsible for leading a team in originating, structuring and executing tax equity investment transactions in the renewable energy sector within the U.S. Prior to joining State Street, he worked at Deutsche Bank and Lehman Brothers in principal investment areas.
“We are excited to launch our renewables investment strategy with Santosh, who has deep expertise in this asset class,” says Amin. “His experience within the space allows us to strengthen our proven ability to find quality investment opportunities in energy, particularly in a market where we see major upside potential.”
“This is an exciting time to join Silverpeak as it grows,” adds Raikar. “It is also an important time for investing in renewables, thanks to the tailwinds of renewable energy tax incentives and new technologies and an increased interest in socially responsible investments.”
Raikar holds a master of science in technology and policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He earned a master of science in electrical engineering from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Mumbai.
