The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) has voted to approve the location control permit for Pattern Development’s Corona Wind Projects.
As a result of the 4-0 vote, Pattern can commence construction on an estimated 950 wind turbines, which will produce a whopping 2.2 GW of power across the projects.
“We greatly appreciate the commission’s diligent work to ensure that we had an effective review process, that our filing was complete and that New Mexico residents will continue to benefit from our initiative,” comments Mike Garland, CEO of Pattern Development. “Our team is now able to move forward with the Corona Wind Projects, creating over a thousand new construction jobs and generating billions of dollars in economic impact, while continuing to progress New Mexico as a leader in wind energy.”
The projects are expected to be in operation by the end of 2020.
