To manage its unique contract settlement workflows for its balancing authorities and operating wind projects in the Northwest, NaturEner USA has deployed Power Costs Inc.’s (PCI) secure, integrated, Web-based cloud platform.

“Our wind-only balancing authorities operating in the Western Electricity Coordinating Council region present a unique setup that provides stable and robust support for our renewable energy integration activities,” explains Marc DeNarie, chief information officer of NaturEner USA. “PCI proved itself to be our desired agile software partner that could effectively deploy a flexible, scalable platform for not only our current business requirements but also our future needs.”

According to PCI, which is based out of Norman, Okla., the solution allows buyers and sellers to automate the settlement and billing process for complex bilateral contracts, such as power purchase agreements or tolling agreements, and to perform the settlement of bilateral transactions. With a built-in allocations engine, PCI’s solution can operate on a set of predefined variables that are fully configurable to fit client-specific business rules.

Jason Hebert, PCI’s vice president, notes, “We are proud to have NaturEner as part of our growing list of clients that manage renewable portfolios in North America. The secure, high-availability cloud platform that NaturEner selected facilitates rapid deployment of all PCI value-added solutions.”
