Springfield, Mo.-based Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. (AECI) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for 50 MW to 300 MW of renewable energy from wind power.
AECI is a wholesale power supplier to six regional generation and transmission cooperatives serving 51 local electric cooperatives in Missouri, southeast Iowa and northeast Oklahoma.
In order to receive a final selection and power purchase agreement, says the co-op, entities must have transmission approvals in place or “substantial analysis” proving that transmission approval will be achievable.
AECI says it is soliciting offers for wind energy preferably delivered for a minimum term of 20 years. The co-op notes it is not requesting proposals for renewable energy sources other than wind power.
A notice of intent to bid is due on May 13, and the RFP proposal due date is June 10. Associated Electric says it will invite short-listed bidders for further discussions starting Aug. 26.
