The Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency (KyMEA) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for renewable energy.
Specifically, the RFP is soliciting proposals to supply electric capacity and energy from renewable sources between May 1, 2019, and June 1, 2022, for terms of 10-20 years. The agency anticipates considering purchases ranging from 250 kW to 50 MW.
KyMEA says it prefers to purchase capacity and energy from solar or wind resources delivered by the seller to MISO Zone 6, the Louisville Gas & Electric/Kentucky Utilities transmission system or a distribution system of one of KyMEA’s members.
KyMEA was formed in September 2015 as an inter-local agency that will provide electric power and related services to municipal utilities in the commonwealth of Kentucky starting on May 1, 2019. The agency estimates the annual summer peak demand of its members to be 500 MW.
KyMEA plans to receive proposals by email from interested parties no later than 2 p.m. EST on April 12. Potential proposers may request a copy of the RFP by emailing nFront Consulting LLC at JohnPainter@nFrontConsulting.com.
