Kent, an integrated energy services provider, has inked a new concept design study contract with Five Estuaries Offshore Windfarm for an HVAC offshore substation platform.
The Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm is the sister extension project of the existing £1.5 billion, 353 MW Galloper Wind Farm, located 30 kilometers off the coast of Suffolk, U.K. First power from Galloper’s 56 turbines was generated in November 2017, and it became fully operational in March 2018.
The proposed wind farm is located approximately 37 kilometers off the Suffolk and Essex coast and planned to be operational in 2031.
Five Estuaries is owned by a number of shareholders, with RWE leading the development, construction and operation. Kent has been entrusted with conducting the offshore substation topside concept design and support structure foundation assessment and concept design.
“We are extremely proud to be part of this journey with RWE and continue to support the continued growth of the offshore wind sector in the U.K.,” says Cerianne Cummings, head of offshore wind at Kent.
“Our team is committed to working collaboratively to ensure the success of the project, now and as it progresses.”
