Hywind Scotland Export Cable Reconnected

The export cable for Global Maritime’s Hywind Scotland Main Component Exchange Project has been reconnected, and the company says it is ready to supply power back to Scotland.

The current project status is that two of its floating turbines have been reconnected to the mooring system and export and IAC cables have been pulled back in. The third floating wind turbine is being towed back to field with and is expected to be reconnected in the coming days.

Since May, the project has completed: 13 laydown and pull-in operations of cables, 21 mooring line disconnection and reconnections, eight towing operations, 21 blade lifts, seven nacelle lifts and 370 Walk 2 Work gangway connections.

Offshore commissioning is performed from the Island Diligence utilizing the Walk 2 Work system, project mobilized ROV from Ocean Infinity with support from Ventus, Norwegian Group and Veltec Industrial Services.

The two last floating wind turbines are currently at the Wergeland Group site at Sløvåg. This involves lifting operations with the LR12500 crawler crane supplied by Sarens and relocation operations supported by Tronds Marine Service.
