Hellenic Cables Gets EPCI Contract for Wind Farm in Baltic Sea

German distributor of electricity networks, 50Hertz Offshore GmbH has awarded a contract to Hellenic Cables S.A., the cable production segment of Cenergy Holdings and one of the largest cable producers in Europe, for the turnkey delivery of two export cable systems destined for Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm. Located in the German Baltic Sea, Gennaker has a capacity of approximately 927 MW, utilizing 220 kV AC technology.

The scope of work on the project for Hellenic Cables includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of two export cable systems, which will connect a new onshore substation, located close to Gnewitz in Northern Germany, to the Western Offshore Sub Station of Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm.

The two export cable systems will include about 50 miles of 220 kV submarine and 130 miles of 220 kV underground cables as well as related accessories. Delivery and installation is expected in 2027. The value of the contract is approximately $486 million.


The submarine cables will be manufactured at the Hellenic Cables plant in Corinth, Greece, and the underground cables will be manufactured at the Hellenic Cables plant in Thiva, Greece.
