Horizon Geosciences Ltd. and Seaforth Geosurveys Inc. have formed a partnership to provide integrated offshore site investigation services for the U.S. offshore wind market.
Seaforth, based in Nova Scotia, has 25 years’ experience in offshore surveys, 10 of which have been in the ocean energy sector. Horizon Geosciences, based in the United Arab Emirates, has 15 years’ experience in performing geotechnical site investigations, five of which have been within the European offshore wind industry.
The partnership is currently executing a combined geophysical and geotechnical site investigation campaign offshore Massachusetts.
“This is a significant step for both Horizon and Seaforth, as we see promising future opportunities in U.S. offshore wind,” says Rich Metters, managing director of Horizon Geosciences. “By pooling our combined resources, we are able to provide a responsive and flexible offering that can be tailored to suit the specific site investigation requirements of U.S. offshore wind projects. Our recent work offshore Massachusetts for both the turbine array area and cable routes is testament to the new partnership’s ability to execute a diverse range of offshore survey and geotechnical investigation activities.”
David Lombardi, president and CEO of Seaforth Geosurveys, adds, “Seaforth has a long history of collaboration which enables us to provide a full range of marine site investigation services worldwide to an extremely diverse client base. Our long history of U.S. East coast geophysical and geotechnical projects and our pioneering work in site characterization for the ocean energy sector in Canada, combined with the depth of expertise and experience from Horizon Geosciences, has created a unique opportunity for us to respond to the challenging requirements of the rapidly emerging U.S. offshore wind energy sector. Our New England roots and proximity to the market only serve to enhance the opportunity and excitement this collaboration brings.”
The partnership expects to announce the establishment of a new office expansion to the U.S. in the near future.
