Geronimo Energy LLC has donated $52,000 to four school districts within the South Fork Wind Farm project area in southwestern Minnesota.
The donations are a result of the charitable-giving component of the South Fork Wind Farm. Geronimo Energy sold the South Fork Wind Farm to Aspenall Energies LLC in 2015, and Aspenall has been operating the project in the Jackson County, Minn., area for over a year.
Geronimo Energy says its charitable gifts provide direct benefits to the communities within its wind farms. Currently, the company has has committed to donating over $5.6 million through its tier one wind farms during the first 20 years of each wind farm’s operation.
The donations resulting from the South Fork Wind Farm were delivered to Jackson County Central School District 2895, Heron Lake-Okabena School District 330, Round Lake-Brewster School District 2907, and Immanuel Lutheran School (each located in Jackson County).
“Geronimo is proud to support educational opportunities within our project communities,” says Blake Nixon, CEO of Geronimo Energy. “As part of our ongoing efforts to give back and help rural areas continue to thrive, we hope that these donations provide further growth opportunities for students in the local school system.”
