Georgia Power has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for renewable energy resources. The energy will be used to help grow Georgia Power's Green Energy program, which was launched in October 2006. The program currently has more than 4,400 customers enrolled, who purchase approximately 19,000 100 kWh blocks monthly.

The company is seeking up to 80,000 MWh of renewable energy annually, 1,500 MWh annually of which may be solar photovoltaic energy. Proposals must provide annual energy-only pricing for energy and associated renewable energy certificates. All green energy resources must satisfy the criteria of the Green-e Energy's national standard for renewable electricity products.

The green energy resources for the RFP are needed on or before January 1, 2011. Georgia Power prefers a contract term of 10 years but will consider proposals for a 20-year term for solar resources only.

A bidders' conference will be held on May 13 at 1 p.m. in Georgia Power's James K. Davis Conference Center in Atlanta.

Deadline: June 30.
