Turbine manufacturer Gamesa has awarded employees for technological advancement in the areas of material handling and wind turbine power controls, as part of a company initiative.
Gamesa says its inventors and patents contest helps develop technological advancement while incentivizing employees.
The company says entrants were judged on generation of value for the company, in cost of energy terms; the potential for defending the innovation against rivals; how well the concept fit with the company's technology strategy; groundbreaking ideas, and the simplicity of the idea and/or technology.
The majority of Gamesa's innovations in recent years are linked to the development of wind turbine blades, namely for the Gamesa G10X-4.5 MW.
