Beverly, Mass.-based Endicott College has been awarded a grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (CEC) for a wind turbine feasibility study. The CEC recently awarded $2.5 million in grants for 20 wind energy projects. The grants are part of the Commonwealth Wind Community-Scale Wind Initiative, a CEC program funded by the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust for wind projects that are at least 100 kW.
Endicott College was awarded $32,000 for a feasibility study for a 1.5 MW wind turbine. If the wind quality is of sufficient quality, then it is estimated that the proposed wind turbine would provide up to as much as one-third of the energy used by the campus, according to the college.
