Edinburgh College and Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm have signed an MOU setting out how they will partner in delivering STEM initiatives for students seeking to work in roles viewed as vital for the offshore wind sector.

The initiative will be funded by the 1.1 GW Inch Cape, located 15 kilometers from the Angus coast. Its generated power is set to be transported via 85 kilometer long export cables to a substation being built in East Lothian at the site of the former Cockenzie Power Plant.

The curriculum will include: a further education curriculum unit for Level 5 Engineering students using Inch Cape as a case study, an All Energy Apprenticeship and delivery of an interactive immersive package aimed at younger students.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the College and we are delighted to be working in partnership with Inch Cape to deliver training in wind technologies,” says Ron Eldridge, Edinburgh College’s head of school.

“The learning will support development of the future workforce and introduce people to green alternatives in meeting net zero.”
