DONG Energy says it has acquired, for approximately 30 million euros, the right from Energiekontor AG to further develop the Borkum Riffgrund West 1 offshore wind project.
If DONG Energy decides to establish the wind farm, the project could potentially consist of up to 80 turbines with a total capacity of up to 400 MW, the company says. The project would be located in the German part of the North Sea, nine kilometers from DONG Energy's existing German offshore wind project, Borkum Riffgrund 1, which is expected to enter operation in 2014.
